Welsh harpist Ruth Elen Hicks is a talented background musician who has been playing the harp since 1990. Subsequently, she has competed and won several national competitions including first prize in the Urdd Eisteddfod as part of the harp ensemble, ‘Glissandi’. During her time as a member of ‘Glissandi’, Ruth also had the opportunity to play in Dresden, Germany by invitation.

Additionally, Ruth was appointed the harpist in residence at the Great House Hotel, Laleston (Bridgend), providing background music for a period of more than three years. Ruth has performed extensively in many different events; providing music for the likes of Lord Ellis Thomas, Neil Kinnock and more recently was invited to play at the Welsh Athletics Centenary Ball where Colin Jackson, Iwan Thomas and other sporting greats attended.

Ruth has played at locations including Cardiff Castle, The Liberty Stadium, Cwrt Bleddyn, Miskin Manor, The Bear Hotel, Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel, Margam Orangery, Caerphilly Castle, Millenium Centre, Vale of Glamorgan
Hotel and Clearwell Castle to name just a few, and Ruth has even been featured in Western Mail’s WM MAGAZINE.

Ruth enjoys and is experienced in providing music for weddings (Religious ceremonies, civil ceremonies & civil partnerships), receptions, social evenings, charity events and dinners with a repertoire ranging from the classics to the contemporary.
